This piece takes one of these historic French turbojets out of the hangar and turns it into sculpture. The engine is fully chromed, set within a chromed aluminium frame and placed beneath a thick slab of crystal glass.

Turbomeca built the Marboré from the 1950s into the 1970s. It is a single-spool turbojet with a centrifugal compressor, and the production Marboré II delivered 880 lb of thrust at 22,500 rpm. It is best known as the engine of the Fouga CM.170 Magister, the V-tailed jet trainer on which generations of French and European military pilots learned to fly. Two Marborés powered each Magister. The type was also the mount of the Patrouille de France, the French Air Force display team, for much of the 1960s and 1970s.

The engine powered several other aircraft. Two Marboré IIs were fitted side by side in the rear fuselage of the Morane-Saulnier MS.760 Paris, the four-seat liaison jet sometimes called one of the first business jets. Other types included the Fouga CM.175 Zéphyr, the naval version of the Magister, and the Nord CT20 target drone. In Spain, ENMASA built the Marboré II under licence as the Marboré M21, and it powered the Hispano HA-200 Saeta, the first jet designed in Spain. By June 1978, 4,344 Marborés had been delivered.

A Piece of Art

The engine's working anatomy has been fully chromed, turning it into a mirror-bright sculpture. The pointed intake cone leads into the compressor casing and a dense network of fuel lines, braided hoses, fittings and ancillaries, then on to the tapered exhaust. Every rivet line and flange catches the light. Under the glass it is visible from every angle, like an exhibit in a museum case.

The frame is made of polished chromed aluminium, with clean architectural lines that echo the precision of the engine. The thick crystal glass top is held on chromed standoffs so that it appears to float above the turbine. Seen from the side, the table has the proportions of an aircraft in flight. Seen from above, it offers a full cutaway view of French aero-engineering.

It is at home in a contemporary living room, an executive office, a private hangar or a collector's showroom.

Specifications

Engine: Turbomeca Marboré turbojet, fully chromed [add variant and serial number if known]

Frame: Chromed aluminium

Top: Thick crystal glass on chromed standoffs

Dimensions: 200 cm x 80 cms x 80 cms / 78.74 in x 31.50 in x 31.50 in

Weight: 75 kgs / 165 Lbs

Lead time: Approximately three months from order

A Note for Collectors

Each table is built around an individual engine, so no two are exactly the same.
